My name is Christopher Baird and I am a 17 year old male from Glasgow (Scotland, UK). My interests involve playing the violin and the oboe, computing and web design, economics (oh, the geek) and playing field hockey.

Why “PANDAink”?
To be honest, I don’t really know. The “ink” part comes from writing, obviously. I am fully aware that a blog contains no ink (unless printed) however, I have always felt that traditional methods of communication such as writing are far better and, for want of a better word, nicer than modern e-mailing and texting, however convenient they may be.

The “panda” section is at a loss to me. Therefore, I shall make up a reason for this which, as I think of one, is actually rather fitting to the title of my weblog. And so:

I chose the word ‘panda’ since they are diminishing. The number of pandas now in the world are few and far between. I take this, and make a connection between writing. In todays society, more and more people chose convenience over tradition and formality. Take thank-you letters for example. Many people nowadays will, upon the receipt of a gift, send a quick e-mail or SMS message to the giver of said gift. Even the majority of those who take the time to write a proper letter will most likely type it up on their computer. I feel that a hand-written letter is far more personal and thus pen ink should be used far more often.

It is at this point that the connection is made: pandas are decreasing…ink writing is decreasing…panda-ink. Add some stylish capitalisation, and you get PANDAink
